Preparing For Your Family Session

Updated: Dec 18, 2024

Before Your Session

Coordinate everyone's attire, and avoiding everyone wearing the same colors. Neutral colors work great because it draws your eyes to the subjects without it being distracting. When choosing what to wear avoid graphic tee's or super crazy neon like colors. I also love when texture and layers are added. Pinterest is also a great way to get ideas for what to wear and color pallets for every season. Below is a few color suggestions that are great for every season. Another thing to avoid is ball caps. We want to see your pretty faces and avoid unwanted shadowing. I also have a growing client closet for your choosing.

Olive Green

Having troubles picking what to wear for your session? Just ask me! I won't bite. I would love to help you.

Have young children and you're worried about how they will be during the session? Before the session get them prepared and excited. Feeding them before the session helps the hangry littles! An incentive for good behavior never hurts! Bringing snacks or treats is a great idea to help your children get comfortable.

During Your Session

During your session play with your kids! The best photos are when you and your kids are having a blast. And don't worry if your child isn't doing what you ask them to do. They are not in their usual routine, so having a photographer watch them is a lot of pressure. Just go with it, most of the times they get used to me and warm up eventually! Like I said playing with them, giving them snacks and my helpful prompts will sure help!

For posing I like to prompt clients on what they should do and I love candid looks. Statue posing is not my thing but I will get you into position and go from there! Sessions are fun and when you're having fun, I'm having a blast. I usually bring a blanket or a few props depending on the type of session or age of your children. If you have any props or if this is a special occasion or celebration, let me know and we can have something in place ahead of time.

After Your Session

Up to 2-3 days after your session with me (which I hope you had a good time!) you will be getting an email with your proofing gallery to choose your favorite images for me to edit afterwards. The gallery is password protected which I will provide you in the same email. As stated in your contract you will have 7 days to choose your images before the gallery expires.

Editing and delivery of your images is a turnaround time of between 2 to 3 weeks. In between editing your images I usually post a sneak peak on Facebook and Instagram to show you off to your friends and families. Once I am done editing your images I will upload them and send you the email link. It is password protected and will be the same password from your proofing gallery.

In your gallery on the top of the page there is a download link to click.

Once it is downloaded onto your device make sure you back up your images to an external hard drive/flash drive. Technology is flawed and sometimes accidents happen or devices crash. I do keep your galleries onto the site for quite sometime or until I run out of room.

When you do prints or canvases of your beautiful images make sure you get them done with professional printers. If want a recommendation about where to get your prints done, then just ask me. I will gladly help. Your high resolution images can only be done on professional printers. Getting prints done from lower grade printers will alter the color of your images and will look terrible.

I hope your experience with me was great and I really hope you love your pictures. I also love reviews. If you want to a leave a review, you can on my Facebook page or Google. I also have a referral program that will benefit you! Check it out the details on my website.
